The Edda West Development Centre headquarters in Igbara Edda was filled to capacity on Monday, as thousands of residents staged a massive rally to endorse Governor Francis Nwifuru for a second term and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Party leaders, ward chairmen, women leaders, youth groups, and grassroots mobilizers converged at the rally ground before moving in a procession from Igbara through Itim down to Owutu Edda, chanting slogans and waving APC flags.
Addressing the crowd, Coordinator of Edda West Development Center, Jecklin Ikwuo, said the endorsement was rooted in “visible achievements and a government that has remained faithful to its promises.”
He cited Gov. Nwifuru’s People’s Charter of Needs as the driver behind road construction, civil service reforms, and legacy projects across Ebonyi.
Ikwuo highlighted the upgrade of the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport, establishment of new universities, overseas scholarships, and improvements at Ebonyi State University.
“The housing sector has equally received unprecedented attention through initiatives such as the Civil Servants’ Housing Estate, the Amaze Housing Project, and the Izzo Housing Project,” he said, adding that pension and gratuity arrears dating back to 1999 are now being cleared.
Ikwuo also praised the administration for restoring peace in once volatile areas, like Effium, Alioma, Amasiri, and Oso Edda, and for building modern palaces for traditional rulers.
The traditional ruler of Amato Autonomous Community, Nkama Oduko, and the women leader, Mrs. Rita Okoro also declared support for the governor’s reelection during the event.

Ikwuo thanked the APC state Chairman, Chief Stanley Emegha, Edda Local Government Area Chairman, Prince Chima Ekumankama, Senator Soni Ogbuoji, councillors, and other stakeholders for their support.
The event signals early grassroots mobilization for APC in Edda Local Government Area, as political activities build toward 2027.
Highlights of the event was a formal adoption of Gov. Nwifuru’s re-election through a motion moved by Agha Ukpai and seconded by Chima Ukpai, which was unanimously approved
