Political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections in Taraba state intensified on Wednesday following the formal declaration of governorship ambition by Aboki Stephen Bayonga under the platform of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA).

Key Highlights:

  • Aboki Stephen Bayonga declared for the 2027 governorship race in Taraba State under the Democratic Leadership Alliance.
  • He promised transparent leadership, development, and improved welfare for residents.
  • The DLA plans to focus on infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and youth empowerment.
  • Party chairman Aliyuda Yakubu Balutu pledged accountable and inclusive governance.
  • Observers believe the DLA could become a strong force ahead of the 2027 elections.

Bayonga disclosed his intention during an exclusive telephone interview with The Guardian, expressing confidence that the DLA possesses the structure and grassroots support needed to win the 2027 governorship election.

According to the aspirant, the party is committed to delivering purposeful leadership, transparency, and inclusive governance aimed at repositioning Taraba State for rapid development.

He said the DLA’s agenda would focus on economic growth, infrastructural development, youth empowerment, agriculture, education, healthcare delivery, and improved welfare for residents across the state.

“The people of Taraba are yearning for credible leadership that will prioritize their welfare and ensure that every part of the state benefits from democratic dividends,” Bayonga stated.

He also appealed to eligible voters, particularly women and youths, to support the Democratic Leadership Alliance in its bid to form the next government in the state.

In support of Bayonga’s declaration, the Taraba State Chairman of the DLA, Aliyuda Yakubu Balutu, assured residents that the party would operate an open-door and participatory system of governance if elected into office.

Balutu stressed that the party remains committed to transparency and accountability, adding that citizens would be given opportunities to contribute meaningfully to governance and development.

He further urged party members and supporters to rally behind candidates who emerge from the party’s primaries, from the State House of Assembly to the governorship race.

According to him, unity and collective commitment among party faithful and the electorate would be crucial to the success of the DLA in the 2027 elections.

Political observers believe Bayonga’s declaration and the growing activities within the DLA could reshape the political landscape in Taraba State as parties intensify mobilization and strategic alignments ahead of the next general elections.
