The Navy, through Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT, on Tuesday conducted a free medical outreach and educational rhapsody at the Nigerian Navy Primary School, Mobil Road, Apapa, Lagos State, as part of activities marking the Navy’s 70th Anniversary Celebration.

The initiative was led by the Commander of NNS BEECROFT, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu, in line with the directive of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, mandating Commands and Units of the Navy to give back to their host communities through humanitarian and community-based programmes.
According to the Navy, the outreach formed part of its civil-military cooperation efforts aimed at strengthening engagement with host communities and improving citizens’ wellbeing through impactful interventions.
The Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abubakar Abdullahi Mustapha, also encouraged units under the command to initiate people-oriented programmes capable of enhancing civil-military relations and supporting community development.
The programme featured free medical consultations, basic health screenings, distribution of prescribed medications, and health awareness sessions for pupils, teachers, parents, and residents of the surrounding community.
As part of the educational component of the outreach, learning materials were distributed to pupils to support academic development and encourage a stronger culture of learning. The pupils were also sensitised on discipline, civic responsibility, patriotism, and national consciousness.

Speaking during the event, Commodore Adams-Aliu reaffirmed the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to safeguarding the nation’s maritime domain while contributing meaningfully to community development and human capacity building.
He said the outreach reflected the Navy’s dedication to initiatives that directly impact Nigerians, especially children and young people, whom he described as the future of the nation.
The naval commander stressed that access to quality healthcare and education remained essential to sustainable national growth, urging pupils to remain disciplined, focused on their education, and committed to values such as integrity, patriotism, and excellence.
In separate remarks, the school’s head teacher, the Parent-Teacher Association chairman, and several parents commended the Nigerian Navy and the leadership of NNS BEECROFT for the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful.
They also praised the Navy’s continued support for host communities and its commitment to programmes that promote public wellbeing, unity, and national development.
The outreach further underscored the Nigerian Navy’s resolve to strengthen ties with communities through people-centred initiatives while reinforcing its role as a professional and responsive security institution dedicated to national progress.
