Ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed its specialised and tactical teams, to beef up security across the state.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, Ihemnacho Umeado, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, said the state Commandant, Joachim Okafor, gave the directive after a strategic management briefing held at the command’s headquarters.
He said the deployment will cover places identified as blackspots and likely flashpoints across the state; which includes but not limited to recreational centres, Eid prayer grounds, major road intersections, markets, motor parks, amongst others.

The command also reiterated the corps commitment to the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure and directed the command’s anti -vandal unit to intensify patrol and surveillance across key installations.
The NSCDC state commandant, further reassured residents of the state of the corps readiness to prioritise the protection of lives and property as well as forestall any likely breakdown of law and order before, during and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The statement warned that the command will decisively deal with criminal elements that want to take advantage of the window to carry out their nefarious activities.
The command further appealed to the public to report any suspicious activity around their neighbourhood to the nearest security post, for prompt response and containment.
