The former Senator representing Taraba South Senatorial District, Emmanuel Bwacha, has been formally affirmed as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the forthcoming election in Taraba state.

The affirmation, which took place on Monday in Jalingo, saw Bwacha emerge unanimously as the party’s flagbearer.
Speaking shortly after the exercise, he pledged to redirect the state from what he described as a trajectory of decline toward a path of development and inclusive governance.

Visibly moved by the party’s decision, Bwacha said urgent steps were needed to reposition Taraba state for meaningful progress and sustainable development.
“Taraba is becoming decaying every day,” he declared, pointing to persistent governance challenges, infrastructure deficits, and socio-economic stagnation. He called for swift political and economic reforms to reverse the situation.
Bwacha assured party members and supporters that, if elected governor, his administration would prioritize effective leadership, improved representation, and grassroots development across all local government areas of the state.
He stressed that citizens deserved a government capable of restoring public trust and extending democratic dividends to rural communities.
The PDP governorship candidate further pledged to run an inclusive administration aimed at bridging ethnic and religious divisions, emphasizing unity, equity, and shared prosperity as central pillars of his political vision.
He also called for solidarity within the party and among residents ahead of the governorship election, expressing confidence that the state could enter a new era of growth, stability, and transformation under purposeful leadership.
