Oyo school abduction: Names, ages of 46 Vvctims released

Fresh details have emerged following the abduction of dozens of pupils and teachers during an attack on communities in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The victims were reportedly kidnapped last Friday, when armed men invaded Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle, and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School, causing panic among residents and families in the affected communities.

  • Armed attackers abducted 46 people, including teachers and students, from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
  • The victims include 7 teachers and 39 students from Community High School Ahoro-Esinle and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School.
  • Among those kidnapped is a 2-year-old girl, highlighting the scale and severity of the attack.
  • The attackers also stole motorcycles before fleeing the communities.
  • Security agencies have not yet confirmed contact with the abductors as rescue efforts continue.

According to community sources, 46 persons were taken away during the incident, including seven teachers and 39 students.

Among the victims is a two-year-old girl identified as Christianah Akanbi.

Residents also disclosed that the attackers carted away four motorcycles from the school and nearby community areas before fleeing.

The incident has heightened tension across the area, with parents and residents anxiously awaiting updates from security agencies on rescue efforts.

Security agencies are yet to officially confirm if contact has been established with the abductors as efforts continue to secure the victims’ release.
