Senator Ali Ndume has been officially reaffirmed as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Borno South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections..
The affirmation ceremony, held in Biu, attracted large crowds of party faithful, stakeholders, youths, women groups, and supporters from across Southern Borno, reflecting widespread support for the senator’s continued representation.
Before the event, Senator Ndume paid a courtesy visit to the emir of Biu, where he sought royal blessings and formally informed the traditional ruler about the planned affirmation by APC stakeholders.
Speaking during the visit, the senator described Biu as his home and stressed the importance of traditional institutions in promoting peace, unity, and development across the state.
“A good son always returns home after a while. Your Royal Highness, I am back home for your blessings,” Ndume said.
The senator also reiterated his commitment to agriculture and food security in Borno South as the farming season approaches.
He noted that efforts were underway to ensure timely access to fertilizer and other farming support for local farmers.
According to him, a community-driven agricultural support initiative introduced last year enabled farmers to access fertilizer at subsidized rates through direct engagement with suppliers, with contributions coordinated through local government chairmen.
“It was entirely voluntary, but it proved to be a successful intervention. We implemented the initiative in Chibok last year, and by the grace of God, we intend to expand and improve it for the benefit of our farmers,” he added.
