  • The Imo State APC has set up an appeal committee to address complaints from its House of Representatives primary elections.
  • Aggrieved aspirants can submit petitions on Monday, May 18, 2026, at the APC state secretariat in Owerri.
  • Submissions are allowed between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and late complaints will not be accepted.
  • Petitioners will also be required to appear before the committee to defend their claims.
  • The move follows reported dissatisfaction with the primaries held on Saturday, May 16, across the state.

In a notice issued on Sunday, the party said a National Assembly Primary Appeal Committee has been set up and will begin receiving petitions from aggrieved aspirants on Monday, May 18, 2026, at the APC state secretariat in Owerri.

According to the statement signed by committee Chairman, Tuoyo Omatstuli and secretary, Godwin Anaughe, aspirants who feel shortchanged in Saturday’s primaries are expected to submit their complaints between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The committee insisted that all petitions must be filed within the stipulated timeframe, warning that late submissions will not be entertained.

“The committee hereby invites aspirants in the said primary elections to submit petitions/complaints from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2026, at the APC State Secretariat, 47 Okigwe Road, Owerri,” the statement read.

It added that petitioners are also expected to appear before the panel to defend their claims.

The appeal committee said it has been mandated to review grievances arising from the House of Representatives primaries conducted on Saturday, May 16, across the state.

While the APC maintains the process is aimed at ensuring internal fairness, the hurried timeline and tight submission window are already expected to trigger further complaints from aspirants who believe the exercise was flawed.

The committee can be reached during sitting hours via 0703 205 4046.
