Celebrity businessman and nightlife promoter, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has reportedly lost his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives ticket for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency of Imo State.
Cubana Chief Priest, who currently serves as the Imo State coordinator of the City Boys Movement, had joined the race to represent the constituency at the National Assembly under the platform of the APC.
His reported defeat in the party primary has sparked widespread reactions across social media, with many users debating the challenges celebrities face when transitioning into active politics.

While some critics mocked the outcome, others argued that participating in the political process itself was commendable regardless of the result.
Reacting to the development, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success, criticised the public ridicule directed at the celebrity businessman.
“Why are people mocking Cubana Chief Priest? Not nice… it’s okay to try and try again. He lost an election and so what? I am disappointed,” he wrote on Facebook.
The development adds to the growing wave of political contests ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several entertainers, business figures and influencers increasingly seeking elective positions across the country.
Despite the setback, supporters of Cubana Chief Priest believe the outing could mark the beginning of a longer political journey for the socialite-turned-politician.
