Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has assured members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the party’s primary elections in the state will be conducted in transparent, free, and fair manners.
He stated these while addressing loyalists from Nsit Ubium Local Government Area in a meeting held at the residence of the political leader, Senator Effiong Bob.
Speaking at the gathering, Governor Eno stressed the need to preserve the prevailing peace in the state before, during, and after the APC primaries scheduled to begin on Friday, May 15, 2026.
He thanked Senator Bob and the people of Nsit Ubium for their continued support and unity ahead of the primaries and the 2027 general elections.
According to the governor, it was important for him to officially inform his people of his intention to seek a second term in office in 2027.
“I consider it necessary to formally notify my people of my decision to run for a second term as governor in 2027,” Eno said.
He added that while seeking support for his re-election bid, members of the party would also mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates.
Governor Eno expressed confidence that the primaries would be hitch-free due to the current peaceful political atmosphere in the state.
He, however, urged party members to conduct themselves responsibly and avoid actions that could threaten the peace and unity of Akwa Ibom.
