Two aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Isoko Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat, Engr. Blessing Obomovo and Hon. Jude Ogbimi, have congratulated the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, following his emergence as the party’s sole candidate for the forthcoming election.

Obomovo conveyed his message in a statement shared on his Facebook page on Wednesday night, in which he reflected on what he described as a seven-month, issue-driven, and impactful campaign across the constituency.

According to him, the campaign enjoyed massive support from the Isoko people and was conducted in a peaceful, mature manner, without resorting to personal attacks or insults.

“The love was massive. I was shown undulated love by the Isoko people and I am super proud that we fought a good fight. We showed capacity and ran a clean and matured campaign where there was no name-calling or insults. Rather, we focused on the issues and what we bring to the table,” he stated.

Obomovo, however, noted that the leadership of the party under the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, opted to support the incumbent lawmaker as the consensus choice for the position.

He expressed confidence that he would have performed strongly if the party had gone into a primary election, citing the level of acceptance and grassroots connection he enjoyed during the campaign period.

“And now the governor, in his wisdom as the leader of the party, chose the incumbent, who I believe I would have defeated squarely if we were allowed to go for the primary because of how we resonated and connected with our people,” he added.

Despite his reservations, Obomovo accepted the decision of the party and congratulated Ukodhiko on his emergence as the APC flag bearer for the constituency.

Key Highlights:

  • Obomovo described his seven-month campaign as peaceful, issue-based, and widely accepted by the Isoko people.
  • He claimed he would have performed strongly in a direct primary election but accepted the consensus arrangement backed by Sheriff Oborevwori, whom he acknowledged as the party leader in the state.
  • He thanked supporters under the “OGHALEISOKO2027” movement and congratulated Ukodhiko as the party’s flag bearer.

Meanwhile:

  • Ogbimi emphasized party loyalty, stating that “the party is supreme.”
  • He described the contest as a valuable political experience and reaffirmed his commitment to serving Isoko Nation and Nigeria.
  • He also appreciated several APC leaders and stakeholders for their support throughout the process.

He also appreciated members of his campaign organization and supporters for their commitment throughout the process.

“OGHALEISOKO2027 won at the end of the day. Thank you guys as I am proud of all we were able to do in the last seven months of this campaign. We made our marks and the world clearly saw it. Congratulations to the party chosen flag bearer, Hon. Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, UJA, and congratulations to my team. God bless you all,” he said.

Similarly, former member of the Delta State House of Assembly and APC aspirant for the Isoko Federal Constituency seat, Hon. Jude Ogbimi, also congratulated Ukodhiko, describing the party’s decision as supreme and worthy of respect.

In a statement, Ogbimi said the experience of the contest was worthwhile for him and his supporters, adding that he remains committed to service to Isoko Nation, Delta State, and Nigeria at large.

“The party have spoken and party is supreme. I want to use this medium to state categorically that it was an interesting experience, a good and bold step for me and my team,” he said.

Ogbimi thanked party leaders, including distinguished Senator Mrs. Stella Omu, Chief Esijie, Dr. Paul Owhe, Chief Arausi and others, for their guidance and support during the process.
