President Bola Tinubu, has approved Nigeria’s bid to host the 48th Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football alongside the 2026 CAF Awards ceremony.
The approval was announced during the ongoing Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, after a high-level meeting between Tinubu and CAF President, Patrice Motsepe.

Also present at the meeting were the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau; Special Adviser to the CAF President, Amaju Melvin Pinnick; and CAF acting General Secretary, Samson Adamu.
The 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly is scheduled to hold in October and will bring together key stakeholders in African football, including presidents of CAF’s 54 nember associations, officials from the six zonal unions, and senior football administrators from across the continent.
