The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced plans to launch its Drone/Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) portal at the 6th Africa International Drone Technology Conference and Exhibition 2026.
The conference is scheduled to hold from May 12 to 16 at the NIGAV Expo Centre, located within the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The aviation authority disclosed this in a statement issued by its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu.
According to the NCAA, the launch represents a major step towards improving the regulation of drone operations and accelerating the growth of Nigeria’s drone industry.
The agency explained that the new portal would simplify processes such as drone registration, operator certification, incident reporting, ownership transfers, and compliance management for individuals, SMEs, and commercial operators.
“The new digital portal consolidates the entire application and approval lifecycle into a single, user-friendly platform,” the statement noted.

It added that operators would be able to submit documents, upload safety case files, and monitor application status in real time while complying with cvil aviation regulations.
The NCAA also encouraged stakeholders, operators, and drone service providers to explore the platform ahead of its official rollout and attend the launch event for live demonstrations and guidance.
Officials believe the initiative will reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks and improve efficiency in Nigeria’s growing drone sector.
