The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) on Monday conducted its state congress in Asaba, Delta State, culminating in the emergence of Chief Richman Oyindoubra as state chairman.
Addressing party members after the exercise, Oyindoubra expressed confidence in the party’s cohesion and readiness to provide credible leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He noted that the peaceful conduct of the congress reflected the unity within the NDC and its determination to reposition Nigeria.
According to him, the party remains committed to representing the interests of ordinary Nigerians, stressing that its leadership was entrusted with a mandate to serve and deliver meaningful change.
He added that the NDC would continue to mobilize support and stand with citizens in pursuit of electoral success in 2027.
Oyindoubra also decried the prevailing economic hardship and security concerns across the country, describing them as pressing issues that demand urgent attention.
He maintained that the NDC was established to tackle such challenges and offer practical solutions that would improve the lives of Nigerians.
A prominent party figure in the state, Mr. Ken Pela, described the NDC as a platform driven by purpose and a strong sense of responsibility.

Pela, who contested the 2023 Delta State governorship election under the Labour Party, explained that his decision to align with the NDC followed a period of careful observation and reflection.
He said his move was informed by a desire to identify with a political platform that prioritizes service and accountability.
Pela commended the leadership of the party, particularly its National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, for providing direction and building what he described as a credible alternative for Nigerians seeking genuine leadership.
The congress marks a significant step in the NDC’s efforts to strengthen its structures at the state level as political activities gradually build toward the next general elections.
