The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled its timetable for the 2026 primary elections ahead of the 2027 general polls, outlining a tight schedule for aspirants and setting steep nomination fees across elective offices.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said the timetable underscores its commitment to internal democracy and adherence to the Electoral Act.
According to the schedule, the sale and processing of forms have already commenced, with the collection of application forms running from April 1 to May 4, 2026.
The sale of nomination forms is slated for May 5 to May 10, while submission of completed forms will take place between May 11 and May 13.
Screening of aspirants is fixed for May 14 and 15, with results to be published on May 17.
Appeals arising from the screening will be entertained between May 18 and May 19, while the final list of cleared candidates will be released on May 20.
The party said its primary elections will begin on May 21 with state Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate contests at the ward level.
Governorship primaries are scheduled for May 22, while the presidential primary will hold on May 25.

A National Executive Committee meeting is expected on May 26, followed by a Special National Convention on May 27 to ratify the outcomes.
The ADC also announced what analysts describe as high-cost nomination fees, pegging the presidential form at N100 million and governorship at N50 million.
Senate aspirants are to pay N20 million, House of Representatives N10 million, while state House of Assembly hopefuls will pay N3 million.
Despite the high fees, the party introduced concessions aimed at widening participation.
Youth aspirants are to receive a 50 per cent discount, while women and persons with disabilities will enjoy a 25 per cent reduction.
The party urged members and stakeholders to strictly comply with the timetable, noting that the process is designed to position the ADC as a credible alternative platform ahead of the 2027 elections.
