The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old male suspect, Daniel Saviour, in connection with an alleged case of armed robbery, assault and unlawful possession of firearm in Calabar, the state capital.
Exhibits recovered from the suspect include, one locally made pistol, one dagger, one machete, one pen knife and one short axe
The arrest followed a report lodged at the Ikpa Omin Police Division on April 26, 2026, by one Gabriel, who alleged that the suspect confronted him over the whereabouts of his brother, Isaac.
The complainant further stated that while riding his motorcycle on the same date, the suspect attacked him with a machete, inflicting serious injuries on his hand before robbing him of his Q-Link 125 motorcycle and a Tecno 528 mobile phone.
Acting swiftly on the report, operatives of the division moved to the scene, but the suspect had fled before their arrival.

The suspect has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough and comprehensive investigation.
The police said efforts are ongoing to recover the stolen motorcycle and other exhibits connected to the case.
The suspect will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigation according to the police statement made available to journalists in Calabar, by ASP Sunday Eitokpah Akata, Police Public Relations Officer of the command
