World number one tennis player Jannik Sinner continued his remarkable run of form with a commanding straight-sets victory over Britain’s Cameron Norrie to reach the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open.
The Italian star secured a 6-2, 7-5 win in under 90 minutes, extending his unbeaten streak to 20 matches and matching a historic milestone previously achieved by Novak Djokovic in 2011 and 2015 winning the first 20 ATP Masters 1000 matches in a single season.
Fresh off title wins at Indian Wells Open, Miami Open, and Monte Carlo Masters, Sinner’s latest victory also equals his best-ever performance in Madrid, having previously reached the quarter-finals in 2024.

Despite a bright start from Norrie, Sinner quickly asserted control, breaking serve twice to dominate the opening set.
The second set proved more competitive, with both players holding serve until a tense 5-5 deadlock, where Sinner capitalised before confidently serving out the match.
Reflecting on the encounter, Sinner noted the familiarity between both players and the challenges posed by Madrid’s unique playing surface, expressing satisfaction at progressing in a tournament he has not frequently contested.
