Premier League side AFC Bournemouth are on the verge of appointing Marco Rose as their new head coach, following confirmation that current boss Andoni Iraola will leave the club at the end of the season.

The Cherries are understood to be in advanced talks with the 49-year-old German tactician, who has been without a managerial role since his departure from RB Leipzig in March 2025.

Although Iraola’s impending exit represents a significant change for the south coast club, sources indicate that Bournemouth had been preparing for the transition.

The club reportedly explored several options, including Kieran McKenna of Ipswich Town and Inigo Perez of Rayo Vallecano, before moving closer to securing Rose.

Iraola, who has earned plaudits for his high-intensity approach during his tenure, acknowledged awareness of potential successors but declined to comment in detail, noting that the final decision rests with the club’s hierarchy.

Rose brings a wealth of experience from top European leagues, having previously managed Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach, and Red Bull Salzburg.

He is widely associated with the high-pressing, energetic style developed within the Red Bull football system.

Notably, Rose also shares a footballing connection with Jurgen Klopp, having played under him during his time at Mainz an influence often reflected in his tactical approach.

Despite a mixed spell at RB Leipzig, Rose is still regarded as a progressive coach capable of adapting to new environments. A move to the Premier League would mark his first managerial role in English football.

Analysts suggest Rose’s philosophy could align well with Bournemouth’s current playing identity.

The club has been among the league leaders in interceptions this season, reflecting an aggressive pressing game an approach similar to the one Rose has championed throughout his career.

While such intensity can lead to a higher foul count, it also underpins a proactive style that Bournemouth fans have come to appreciate under Iraola.

Iraola’s confirmed departure is expected to trigger further movement in the managerial market, with several clubs monitoring potential changes ahead of the summer.

Rose himself had previously been linked with Tottenham Hotspur following their managerial vacancy earlier this year.

For Bournemouth, securing a replacement swiftly appears to be a priority, as the club aims to maintain continuity and build on recent progress heading into the next campaign.

If finalized, Rose’s appointment would signal a continuation of Bournemouth’s commitment to dynamic, high-energy football while offering the German coach a fresh challenge in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
