The trial of the driver involved in the fatal car crash linked to former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has been adjourned to June 2, 2026, by an Ogun Magistrate’s Court sitting in Sagamu.
The case, presided over by Magistrate Olufunmilayo Somefun at Magistrate Court 1 in Sagamu Local Government Area, was postponed following a request by the prosecution to file fresh charges.
This marks the third adjournment in the ongoing legal proceedings.
The defendant, Adeniyi Mobolaji, is facing a four-count charge bordering on dangerous driving causing death, reckless and negligent driving, and driving without due care and attention.
He is also accused of causing bodily harm and damage to property.

Additionally, Mobolaji was charged with driving without a valid national driver’s licence, an offence said to contravene provisions of the Federal Highway Act.
The prosecution counsel, G. O. Ogunyomi, sought the adjournment to properly amend and file the new charges, a request that was not opposed by the defence counsel, Abiodun Olalekan.
Speaking after the court session, Olalekan stated that the adjournment was necessary to ensure fairness and justice for all parties involved.
The case stems from a tragic accident that occurred on December 29, 2025, along the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The Lexus SUV, driven by Mobolaji, reportedly collided with a stationary truck.
The crash claimed the lives of Joshua’s personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, while Anthony Joshua and the driver sustained minor injuries.
