The Delta State Police Command has recorded two major operational breakthroughs, intercepting hard drugs concealed in household items and recovering a firearm linked to a murder and cultism investigation.
In the first operation, at about 8:45 a.m. on April 13, 2026, operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol stopped a Sienna bus along the Onicha-Ugbo/Ewohimi Road. The vehicle, driven by Osuke Stephen, 47, was subjected to a routine search based on intelligence.
During the search, officers discovered illicit substances hidden inside electric bulbs. The exhibits included 490 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine and 4 grams of a cannabis strain locally known as “loud.”
Police sources said the drugs were being transported to Abuja, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects linked to the shipment.

In a separate operation later that day, at about 8:45 p.m., the CP Special Assignment Team, acting on credible intelligence, recovered a pump-action gun with three rounds of live cartridges in the Ekigbo area of Ughelli.
The recovery is connected to the murder of Alex Adanike on January 15, 2026. Police confirmed that three suspects have been arrested, charged, and remanded in connection with the case.
The fleeing suspect, identified as Eddy Onose, allegedly abandoned the weapon after noticing he was being trailed. He is believed to be a member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as Aro Bagger.
The Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and urged residents to support ongoing efforts.
Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, said local vigilante groups are assisting in the manhunt for the fleeing suspect.
