He urged them to intensify their involvement in initiatives that directly impact community health outcomes.
The State Programme Officer of the Chigari Foundation, Mohammed Sale, stressed the need to re-orient traditional leaders on their roles during immunization campaigns.
He noted that stronger engagement with community leaders remains critical to tackling vaccine hesitancy and improving compliance.
Sale also highlighted the importance of collaboration between traditional institutions and data and accountability clerks to ensure effective implementation of vaccination programmes at the community level.
The meeting drew participation from a broad range of stakeholders, and development partners such as the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, Sultan Foundation, Helen Keller International, John Snow Inc. (JSI), and eHealth Africa.
Participants expressed optimism that enhanced coordination, improved accountability mechanisms, and deeper community involvement would significantly boost the success of the upcoming polio immunization campaigns across Taraba State.
