Laura Cardoso has made history by becoming the first player ever to take nine wickets in a T20 international, achieving figures of 9-4 against Lesotho in just three overs.
Lesotho were bowled out for 13 runs while chasing 203 at the Kalahari Women’s T20 tournament.
At just 21 years old, Cardoso surpassed the previous T20 record held by Bhutan’s Sonam Yeshey. In women’s cricket, she also beat Indonesia’s Rohmalia Rohmalia in the match.

Cricket Brasil president Roberta Moretti Avery, who watched the match from first slip, described Cardoso as a player with enormous potential:
“I believe Laura can one day play at the elite level in England and Australia. She came through our grassroots programmes and is one of the greatest cricketers Brazil has produced.”
The victory keeps Brazil unbeaten in five matches at the six-team tournament, which is being staged entirely in Gaborone.
Cardoso’s performance is being hailed as a landmark achievement in women’s cricket, highlighting the growing talent emerging from non-traditional cricketing nations in South America.
