The Bayelsa State Government has announced Friday, April 10, 2026, as a work-free day and ordered the closure of markets ahead of the official visit of President Bola Tinubu.

The announcement was made on Thursday by the state Commissioner for Information, Orientation, and Strategy, Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, in Yenagoa, the state capital.

Koku-Obiyai said the measures are intended to enable residents and workers to participate in the programmes planned during the President’s one-day visit, describing Tinubu as “the father of the nation, our leader, and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

A 60-kilometre dual carriageway from Onopa to the LNG axis

A 630-metre bridge connecting Angiama to Oporoma in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area

The Commissioner urged residents, including traders, to comply with the directive and actively participate in the events planned for the visit.

She said the measures are part of efforts to ensure a smooth and successful programme and showcase the state’s readiness to host the President.
