The leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Elijah Ayodele, has cautioned President Bola Tinubu over what he described as the weakening political support in the north, particularly among young voters, ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement on April 8 by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Ayodele warned that the president may be receiving a distorted picture of his standing in the north.
According to the cleric, individuals within Tinubu’s political circle are allegedly projecting an overly optimistic outlook, masking what he claims is growing scepticism and disengagement among northern youths.

Ayodele further argued that initiatives such as the ‘City Boy Movement’, as well as the political visibility of Seyi Tinubu, may not be sufficient to secure widespread support in the region without deeper grassroots mobilisation and strategic alliances with key northern stakeholders.
He stressed that engagement with traditional institutions, religious leaders, and political power blocs remains critical to building a viable electoral coalition.
