Muhammad Zuru, the speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, has passed away.
Murtala Diri announced Zuru’s death in a statement released on Tuesday on behalf of the Kebbi State House of Assembly.
Zuru, also known as Lifiddan Zuru, died on Monday evening in Cairo, Egypt, where he was receiving medical treatment.
He represented the Zuru constituency and was a notable figure within the Zuru emirate.
“The loss of his life is deeply felt by his constituents, the state’s legislative assembly, the political community, and the state and nation as a whole,” the statement said.
Diri mentioned that further information regarding Zuru’s burial arrangements will be provided by his family and the Kebbi state government.

In a statement, Kabir Tukura, the lawmaker for the Zuru, Fakai, Sakaba, and Danko-Wasagu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, praised Zuru as an “embodiment of kindness, generosity, and humility.”
“His passing is a loss not just for his family but for the good people of Kebbi, where he served with unwavering commitment and dedication, especially for the Zurians whose interests he represented with diligence,” the statement noted.
Tukura, who chairs the House committee on FCT area councils and related matters, extended his condolences to Zuru’s family and the people of Kebbi state, calling him an “obedient son of his homeland.”
