Christians in Numan, headquarters of Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State celebrated the Easter with a unique public display, waving Israeli flags as part of activities marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The symbolic gesture, observed during church gatherings and street processions, drew attention from across the town as worshipers carried the blue-and-white flags alongside traditional Christian symbols.
Many participants described the act as an expression of spiritual connection to the Holy Land and a demonstration of faith during one of Christianity’s most significant celebrations.
For some believers in Numan, displaying the Israeli flag reflects that historical and religious linkage.
Clergy members who spoke during the celebrations explained that the gesture was not political but spiritual, emphasizing biblical ties between Christianity and the land where key events of the faith took place.
“We are celebrating our risen Lord, and Israel represents the land of our salvation history,” one church leader said during a service.

Residents noted that the atmosphere across Numan was peaceful, with large turnouts recorded in churches for services, prayers, and thanksgiving sessions.
Hymns, processions, and community outreach activities also formed part of the celebrations.
However, the display has sparked conversations beyond the community, with some observers interpreting it through political lenses, especially given ongoing global tensions involving Israel.
Others, however, maintain that such expressions are not uncommon among Christian groups who see Israel as central to biblical prophecy and heritage.
Religious leaders in the area urged the public to respect differing expressions of faith, stressing that Easter remains a time for reflection, unity, and hope.
