The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has launched a new international engagement strategy with the creation of a special representatives network across major global capitals, aimed at strengthening democratic advocacy and global partnerships.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the initiative will establish formal communication channels with key international stakeholders in countries and institutions committed to democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.
According to the ADC, the move is a response to what it described as a troubling rise in undemocratic practices since July 2025, including alleged attempts to weaken opposition parties, interfere with leadership structures, and limit political participation.
Under the plan, the party will deploy designated representatives to strategic cities such as Washington, D.C., London, Brussels, Berlin, Ottawa, Paris, Pretoria, Addis Ababa, Nairobi, Accra, Geneva, and New York City.

These envoys will engage foreign governments, legislative bodies, international media, and diaspora communities, while also providing regular briefings on Nigeria’s political climate, covering governance issues, electoral integrity, and alleged repression of opposition voices.
The initiative also includes a national documentation programme designed to systematically track incidents affecting political participation across Nigeria.
State-level party structures will compile reports on threats, harassment, arrests, and disruptions linked to political activities.
ADC said the broader objective is to ensure that global partners receive “balanced and credible” insights into Nigeria’s democratic landscape, rather than relying solely on official narratives.
Describing the move as strategic, the party reaffirmed its commitment to democratic principles, accountability, and constitutional governance, positioning itself as a credible alternative in Nigeria’s political space.
