The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, has said that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori will rely on his administration’s numerous development projects as the cornerstone of his campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Aniagwu made the assertion on Tuesday during an inspection visit to the Delta State College of Health Technology, Ovrode, Isoko North Local Government Area, where he assessed the level of work done on the facility.

He was accompanied by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Joseph Onojaeme, and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon.

According to Aniagwu, the inspection followed an earlier directive by the governor to evaluate progress on the project and identify areas requiring improvement.

He expressed satisfaction that most of the issues previously highlighted had been addressed by the contractor, noting that only minor finishing touches remained.

He disclosed that the facility is expected to be ready for inauguration within the next few weeks, adding that significant progress had been made since the last inspection.

“What this shows is that the governor is indeed working. The progress here reflects his commitment to delivering projects that directly impact the lives of the people,” Aniagwu said.

The commissioner emphasized that Governor Oborevwori’s approach to governance is rooted in tangible development rather than political rhetoric.

He noted that while some politicians may focus on campaigns, the governor is prioritizing project execution, commissioning, and human capital development as his campaign strategy.

Aniagwu further explained that the completion of the health technology college would create employment opportunities and provide a platform for training healthcare professionals, thereby addressing manpower shortages in the sector.

He referenced the recent approval of 700 health sector employments by the state government, stressing that training institutions like the Ovrode college are essential to sustaining the workforce.

He also noted that the initiative would help curb the migration of healthcare workers, commonly referred to as “Japa syndrome,” by equipping more residents with the skills needed to fill existing vacancies in the state’s expanding health sector.

Speaking on the broader development agenda, Aniagwu revealed that the governor had approved over ₦400 billion worth of capital projects across the state, which are already being processed and being awarded in various communities.

He added that the administration is committed to ensuring that every part of Delta State benefits from impactful projects.

The commissioner highlighted that Governor Oborevwori has consistently engaged with residents across the state through project commissioning and projects flag-off and inspiration visits covering all 25 local government areas since assuming office. He said this approach allows the governor to maintain direct contact with the people and assess their needs firsthand.

“Commissioning of projects is not just ceremonial; it provides an opportunity for the governor to interact with the people. He does not believe in appearing only during election periods. He has continued to crisscross the state, delivering and unveiling projects that improve lives,” Aniagwu stated.

He added that due to the volume of completed and ongoing projects, the governor has directed that some inaugurations may be carried out by the Deputy Governor or the Secretary to the State Government.

Aniagwu assured that the administration would continue to deliver people-oriented projects across the state, reiterating that these achievements would form the basis of the governor’s campaign as the 2027 elections approach.
