A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has stated that the defection of the former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, portends a bad omen for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Eze described Kwankwaso as a thorough-bred, grassroots politician and crowd puller who believes in genuine democratic governance.

“By joining the ADC, Kwankwaso has dealt a heavy political uppercut blow to President Tinubu’s re-election bid.

“This defection, borne out of patriotism and the need to salvage the country from bad governance is a bad omen for Tinubu and his co-travellers.

“Tinubu’s errand boys lobbied, wished and prayed this defection never happened. But Kwankwaso knows the country is bleeding, the citizens are dying, the living are in dire need of help and the only way to oust Tinubu and his unpopular government is through a coalition movement,” Eze stated.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Eze commended the former governor for joining the ADC, a party he said is on a mission to rescue Nigerians from clueless, nepotistic, wicked, undemocratic, and despotic government led by President Tinubu.

Eze described Kwankwaso as a “political tsunami” waiting to blow off Tinubu.

He applauded Kwankwaso for making the right decision to join the ADC, adding that voting out an incumbent in Nigeria demands all hands on deck.

“Tinubu has through his abysmal performance in this winding up four years, made it easier for ADC, as a viable alternative to take over the mantle of democratic governance in Nigeria. We must not falter.

“As a party on a mission to rescue Nigerians, the ADC cannot afford to waste this glaring opportunity. We must unite ahead of our primaries to face the APC headon. Nigerians have placed hope on ADC, we must rise to the challenge and not disappoint.

“With the calibre of arrow heads in the party, no doubt, Nigerians believe ADC is a disciplined mix of coalition-builders, with credibility and electoral value,” Eze noted.
