The Founder of Omega Power Ministries, Chibuzor Chinyere, has officiated the marriage of a young autistic man, identified as Aboy Chibuzor, to an older woman following widespread public criticism over the initial arrangement.
The wedding ceremony took place on Sunday, March 29, at the church.
The development comes days after a viral video showed the cleric appealing for a wife for the man, a move that drew significant backlash online, with many questioning the appropriateness of the proposal.
According to Chinyere, the groom is non-verbal and requires continuous support with daily activities.
He explained that the man was abandoned as a child at the church premises and has since been under the ministry’s care.

The pastor said the marriage was intended to provide companionship and long-term support for the young man.
As part of the arrangement, Chinyere announced financial assistance for the couple, including ₦10 million, a house, and an overseas trip.
He also pledged additional financial support in the future.
The initial proposal had sparked criticism from members of the public, some of whom described it as insensitive and potentially exploitative. In response, the cleric apologised, stating that he had no intention of disrespecting women.
In a social media update shared after the ceremony, Chinyere expressed optimism about the union, revealing that members of the church also contributed financially to support the couple.
He further claimed that the groom had begun showing signs of increased independence, including feeding himself without assistance.
The development has continued to generate mixed reactions, with some praising the gesture as an act of care, while others remain concerned about the ethical implications of the arrangement.
