The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) has announced that former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai will be arraigned at the Federal High Court, Kaduna, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, over alleged fraud-related offences and money laundering.

The ICPC disclosed the development in a statement issued on Monday by its Head of Media and Public Communications, John Odey.

El-Rufai is expected to appear alongside Joel Adoga in a case marked FHC/KD/73/2026, which includes charges of conversion and possession of public property as well as money laundering.

“The ICPC is set to arraign Malam Nasir El-Rufai and Joel Adoga at the Federal High Court of Nigeria in the Kaduna Judicial Division on Tuesday.

“The suit, numbered FHC/KD/73/2026, carries charges ranging from conversion and possession of public property to money laundering,” the statement said.

The commission also revealed a separate case against El-Rufai and Amadu Sule of the Local Education Development Authority, filed at the Kaduna State High Court, under case number KDH/KAD/ICPC/01/26.

Charges in the case include abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud, and conferring undue advantage.

The arraignment date for the State High Court case will be communicated by the court in due course.

“Both charges were filed on March 18, 2026. El-Rufai has been duly served, and the ICPC remains committed to due process and the rule of law,” the commission added.

The disclosure follows mounting public concern over El-Rufai’s detention.

Political stakeholders, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), had called for either his immediate release or formal arraignment, citing constitutional rights violations.

Thee Muslim Rights Concern also condemned the length of his detention, while family members demanded that he be brought before a competent court.

El-Rufai was initially detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on February 16, 2026, granted bail on February 18, but was immediately re-arrested by the ICPC.

He has remained in the commission’s custody since then, as pressure for formal court proceedings intensified.

The upcoming arraignment at the Federal High Court is expected to attract significant public and media attention, given the high-profile nature of the case.
