Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has clarified that the All Progressives Congress will not undertake any re-zoning of key political offices ahead of its forthcoming national convention.
Uzodinma made this known while addressing journalists after a meeting of the Progressive Governors Forum in Lagos, where party leaders met to review preparations for internal activities leading up to the convention.
He stated that the current zoning structure within the All Progressives Congress remains in force, noting that major offices such as President and Vice President are already occupied and do not require fresh zoning considerations at this stage.

According to him, the party’s focus at the convention is not on candidate selection but on strengthening its internal structure. He explained that, in line with provisions of the Electoral Act, the convention will be used strictly to elect party officials who will oversee the affairs of the APC.
Uzodinma further emphasised that the process of selecting candidates for elective positions would be conducted separately through party primaries under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The clarification comes amid growing speculation over possible zoning adjustments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with party stakeholders keenly watching developments within the ruling party.
