The newly appointed Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, has formally assumed office in Abuja, marking the start of her role in Nigeria’s economic management team.
She was received at the ministry by the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, in a brief ceremony that signaled the commencement of her duties within one of the country’s key economic institutions.
The handover reflects a renewed push by the federal government to strengthen economic planning, improve fiscal discipline and support private sector-led growth as part of its broader reform agenda.
Officials at the event stressed the need for close coordination between both ministers in shaping and implementing policies aimed at stabilising the economy and driving long-term development.

Speaking during the reception, Bagudu underscored the ministry’s central role in developing Nigeria’s medium- and long-term economic strategies. He expressed confidence in Uzoka-Anite’s experience and her ability to contribute to ongoing reforms.
In her remarks, Uzoka-Anite said she would focus on policies that encourage investment, boost productivity and promote sustainable growth. She also highlighted the importance of cooperation across government institutions in delivering the administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.
Her assumption of office comes at a period when Nigeria is pursuing economic reforms designed to improve budget implementation, strengthen macroeconomic stability and create a more supportive environment for businesses.
Her redeployment is expected to reinforce ongoing efforts within the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning to deliver on national priorities tied to growth, investment and development.
