Wales captain Aaron Ramsey has been excluded from the squad for this month’s World Cup play-offs, raising new concerns about the 35-year-old midfielder’s international career.
Ramsey has been without a club since leaving Pumas in December and has not played for the Mexican team since September.
Coupled with a history of injuries, this means he hasn’t represented Wales since September 2024.
The former Arsenal and Juventus player has expressed a desire to compete in the upcoming World Cup if Wales qualifies.
However, his chances of participating in a fourth major tournament now seem increasingly doubtful.
Wales will face Bosnia-Herzegovina in the World Cup play-off semi-final at Cardiff City Stadium on Thursday, March 26.

The winner will host either Italy or Northern Ireland in the final five days later.
Manager Craig Bellamy confirmed that the squad is also missing Ben Davies (Tottenham Hotspur), Kieffer Moore (Wrexham), and Chris Mepham (West Bromwich Albion, on loan from Bournemouth).
All three are sidelined due to injuries.
Their replacements in the 26-man squad are
Danny Ward (Wrexham, goalkeeper), Rhys Norrington-Davies (Sheffield United, on loan at Queens Park Rangers, left-back), and Rabbi Matondo (Rangers, forward).
The winner of this play-off path will secure a spot in the World Cup, joining Group B, which includes co-hosts Canada, Switzerland, and Qatar.
Wales fans are now eagerly anticipating the crucial semi-final match, hoping for a victory that would lead the team to their first World Cup in years, with or without Ramsey in the lineup.
