The FCT Police Command has dismissed reports by some newspapers alleging that suspected bandits sent a threat letter via a student of a private school in Kungaboku Community in the Bwari Area Council.

The letter reportedly threatened attacks on the community and the neighbouring Paze Community in retaliation for the neutralization of a bandit commander during a recent joint operation by the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit and the 7 Guards Battalion (Guards Brigade).

In a statement, signed by Josephine Adeh, the command said investigations revealed that the letter was fabricated by mischief-makers intent on spreading fear and panic within the communities.

“The said letter originated from mischief-makers seeking to spread fear and panic within the community for their mischievous purposes,” the statement read.

The command called on residents to disregard the letter and remain calm, while maintaining vigilance and security awareness.

It added that police officers have been deployed in and around the affected communities to forestall any potential attack and reassure residents of their safety.

She urged the public to report any suspicious activity immediately via the command’s emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08061581938.
