Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, a prominent clergyman from Plateau State, has revealed that he turned down asylum offers from several foreign nations despite facing serious threats to his life from Islamist extremists.
The religious leader, who serves as the Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, said countries including Australia, Austria, and other European nations extended refuge to him.
Dachomo explained that he chose to remain in Nigeria to continue advocating for persecuted Christians, particularly in Plateau State, where violence against religious communities has been on the rise.

Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, the cleric stated that the offers of asylum came at a time when he was receiving daily death threats and indirect warnings.
He emphasized that he declined the offers because he does not consider himself a coward and is unwilling to abandon his community in search of safety abroad.
“My commitment is to stand with my people and support Christians facing persecution in Nigeria, rather than seek personal security elsewhere,” Dachomo said.
