The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, has arrested 19 suspected drug dealers and users during a raid on identified drug joints in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The operation, carried out under the code name ‘Operation Ramadan Mubarak’, led to the seizure of large quantities of illicit substances, including cannabis sativa, diazepam, Exol-5, pregabalin tablets, rubber solution and a street drug popularly known as ‘suck and die’.
Spokesperson of the command, SadiqMaigatari, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, said the operation was conducted following credible intelligence from a concerned member of the community.
According to him, the swift action of the operatives disrupted a network of drug peddlers operating within the Gezawa community and led to the recovery of assorted controlled substances now in the agency’s custody.
“Our objective is simple: to ensure that our streets are safe and that residents can observe a peaceful and satisfactory Ramadan,” Lawal, was quoted as saying.
