Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara has ditched one of his strongest allies, Edison Ehie, while the political crisis in the state lasted.
A statement issued on Thursday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, announced the sacking of Ehie, the man who stood his ground and ensured that the governor was not impeached when the crisis started in 2023.
Ehie was then a member of the state House of Assembly and the leader of the house.
Gov. Fubara had appointed Ehie as chief of staff thereafter, following his proven support and commitment to the success of his administration.

Also sacked by the announcement is the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Benibo Anabraba.
He is being replaced by Dagogo Wokoma as the new SSG.
Anabraba was appointed during the state of emergency by the then Sole Administrator, Ibok Ibas, when Tammy Danagogo was relieved of his appointment as the SSG.
The new appointees will be sworn in at 2:00 pm today, Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
