Troops from the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, stationed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Auga in Ondo State, successfully neutralized two suspected armed terrorists during a tactical operation along the Akunu–Auga road on February 14, 2026.
This was disclosed by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 32 Artillery Brigade, Major Irabir Njoka via the army’s official X handle on February 16, 2026.
Acting on reliable intelligence about the movement of the suspected criminals in the area, the troops quickly mobilized and intercepted the suspects. The encounter led to a firefight, during which the troops’ superior firepower resulted in the neutralization of two terrorists, while others escaped with suspected gunshot wounds. The operation was conducted in collaboration with personnel from the Ondo State Security Network Agency and local vigilantes.
Items recovered from the confrontation included one AK-47 rifle with two magazines and 61 rounds of ammunition, three mobile phones, a jackknife, a flashlight, suspected illicit drugs, charms, and ₦39,000 in cash, among other personal belongings.
