Federal and State Assembly lawmakers elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State have endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027 and pledged support for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s 2026 re-election bid under the Accord Party.
The position was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of a stakeholders’ meeting held in Osogbo on Saturday night, where the legislators also called on the President to intervene in the lingering local government crisis in the state.
Reading the communiqué on behalf of the caucus, Deputy Minority Leader of the National Assembly, Senator Lere Oyewumi, commended Governor Adeleke for what he described as measurable progress in infrastructure, workers’ welfare, healthcare delivery, education, and democratic governance.
According to him, the lawmakers unanimously resolved to back the governor for a second term in the interest of continuity and stability. He stated that after reviewing the administration’s performance across key sectors, the caucus agreed to give full support to Adeleke’s re-election bid in 2026.
The lawmakers also passed a vote of confidence in the Osun PDP State Chairman, Hon Sunday Bisi, and cautioned individuals allegedly parading themselves as party executives to desist from actions capable of causing confusion within the party structure.

On the protracted local government dispute in the state, the legislators urged President Tinubu to direct what they described as illegal occupants of council secretariats to vacate office immediately in order to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
Responding to questions from journalists after the meeting, Oyewumi maintained that the party’s position on the 2027 presidential election remained unchanged. He said the endorsement of President Tinubu was in line with the caucus’ earlier resolution and reaffirmed the lawmakers’ commitment to backing both the President in 2027 and Governor Adeleke in 2026.
Those present at the meeting included Hon Bamidele Salam, representing Ede Federal Constituency, five other federal lawmakers from the state, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Adewale Egbedun, his deputy, Hon Akinyode Oyewusi, and other members of the state legislature.
