Nottingham Forest has appointed Vitor Pereira as their new manager on an 18-month contract, making him the club’s fourth manager this season.
The 57-year-old Portuguese coach takes over at the City Ground following the dismissal of Sean Dyche on Thursday.
One of Pereira’s key responsibilities will be to help the team avoid relegation from the Premier League, where they currently sit 17th, just three points above the relegation zone, with only two wins in their last ten matches.
Pereira’s first match in charge will be the first leg of the Europa League knockout round play-off against his former team, Fenerbahce, in Turkey on Thursday.
Following that, Forest will face Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday, February 22.
This marks Pereira’s return to English football after being let go by Wolves in November, where he had a tenure of 11 months.
He succeeds Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou, and Dyche as the club’s manager since September.
Dyche was dismissed after a disappointing goalless draw against bottom-placed Wolves on Wednesday.
Pereira, who managed to win 14 out of 38 games while at Wolves and helped them avoid relegation last season, quickly became the favored choice for the role, having previously worked with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis at Olympiacos in Greece.
There, he won the league title and the Greek Cup in the 2014-15 season before moving to Fenerbahce.
Pereira joined Wolves in December 2024 but was dismissed three months ago after the team managed only two points from their first ten league matches.
He began his managerial career at the Portuguese club Sanjoanense in 2004 and has since worked in Germany, China, Brazil, and Saudi Arabia, marking his 15th managerial position.

His coaching staff will include Filipe Jorge Monteiro Almeida and Luis Miguel Moreira Da Silva as assistant coaches.
Forest parted ways with Nuno just three games into the season in September, citing a breakdown in his relationship with Marinakis, despite having finished seventh and qualifying for Europe the previous season.
Australian Postecoglou was brought in as his replacement but lasted only 39 days after failing to secure a win in any of his eight league matches, recording two draws and six losses.
Dyche’s appointment initially seemed to stabilize the team, with seven wins in his first twelve games, but a poor run of form left Forest struggling, leading to doubts among players about his methods.
Following the draw against Wolves, several players were called in to meet with owner Marinakis, and opinions were sought after a subsequent 3-1 defeat to fellow relegation battlers Leeds.
