Head Coach Moses Aduku has expressed confidence that Nigeria’s U-20 women’s team, the Falconets, will rise to the challenge and defeat Senegal in the second leg of their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup third round match on Saturday, despite the absence of star striker Janet Akekoromowei.

Akekoromowei suffered an injury during the first half of last Saturday’s first leg in Abeokuta and was substituted.

She will not be part of the squad traveling to Dakar on Wednesday morning.

“We will prevail because we have analyzed the previous match and learned valuable lessons. I commend the girls for regrouping after a challenging first half, adjusting their tactics, and demonstrating resilience in the second half.

“We could have scored more goals as we created several chances during that period.

“In Senegal, we need to defend strongly and attack with intent. We will approach the game with focus and determination.”

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed officials from Morocco to officiate the second leg, which will take place at Stade Lat Dior in Thies, Senegal’s third-largest city, located 70 kilometers from the capital, Dakar.

Zakia El Grini will serve as the referee, assisted by Karima Khadiri (AR1) and Ihsane Ennouajeli Nouajli (AR2), with Zoulaikha Harmasse as the fourth official.

Oumou Souleymane Kane from Mauritania will be the match commissioner, while Kenyan Alice Kimani will act as the referee assessor.

The match is scheduled to start at 5 pm local time in Senegal (6 pm in Nigeria), with the aggregate winner advancing to the final round of the African qualifiers.

The final tournament is set to take place in Poland in September.
