Former Kano State governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed shock and profound sorrow over the reported killing of no fewer than 162 people in Woro and Nuku communities of Kwara State.

In a statement shared on his verified Facebook page on Thursday, Kwankwaso described the incident as a “barbaric and unacceptable attack,” warning that those behind the violence must not be allowed to operate freely anywhere in the country.

“I am deeply saddened and disturbed by the reported massacre of at least 162 innocent people in the Woro and Nuku communities of Kwara State,” he said.

The former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) attributed the killings to terrorist elements and warned that insecurity was gradually spreading to areas previously regarded as peaceful.

He cautioned the Federal Government against downplaying the situation, stressing that violent groups were steadily extending their reach across the nation.

“As I have repeatedly warned, the Federal Government cannot afford to treat these developments with levity. These violent groups are expanding into regions that were once peaceful and secure,” Kwankwaso stated.

He further noted that the worsening security situation was placing enormous pressure on the nation’s armed forces, calling for urgent, decisive and coordinated action to curb the menace.

“With each passing day, the strain on our armed forces increases, making the need for coordinated and decisive action more urgent than ever,” he added.

Kwankwaso extended his condolences to the families of the victims, the Kwara State Government and residents of the affected communities.

He also prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the deceased and for strength and comfort for the bereaved families.
