The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bonny, Rivers State, has arrested a suspect over alleged possession of a locally fabricated pistol, ammunition, and items suspected to be hard drugs.
A statement by the Base Operations Officer, Lt. Commander Sirajo Almustapha, on Tuesday said the arrest occurred around 11:23 pm on January 30, 2026. along the Bonny -Bodo Road
According to the statement, personnel of the FOB Bonny on routine patrol noticed a lone individual standing on a bridge along the road.
“The suspect, identified as Jonah Mark, was subsequently searched, leading to the recovery of a locally made pistol, one cartridge, substances suspected to be methamphetamine, other hard drugs, and personal belongings contained in a school bag,” the statement narrated.

The naval operatives said the suspect and the recovered items have since been handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Bonny Division, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
According to the statement, the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities, illegal bunkering, militancy, and crude oil theft while ensuring the protection of critical infrastructure and commercial routes within its operational area.
The navy also urged residents to support security operations by providing timely and credible information to help curb criminal activities in the area.
