The Defence Headquarters has released the full names of 16 military officers indicted for alleged misconduct, including a purported plot to overthrow the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Samaila Uba disclosed on Monday that a Special Investigative Panel set up by the military had concluded its assignment and found that the officers had cases to answer.
Uba said the affected personnel would be tried by a military court-martial in line with extant laws, regulations, and established procedures of the armed forces.
He said the panel examined the conduct of the officers and identified actions deemed inconsistent with the ethics, values, and professional standards expected of military personnel.
“The process is purely disciplinary and aimed at preserving internal discipline, cohesion, and operational effectiveness within the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” Uba said.

Those indicted include officers from the army, navy, and air force, most of whom are drawn from the infantry, signals, and ordnance corps.
The officers listed by the DHQ are Brig. Gen. Musa Abubakar Sadiq (Nasarawa, 44th Regular Course); Col. M. A. Ma’aji (Niger, 47th Regular Course), Lt. Col. S. Bappah (Bauchi, 56th Regular Course); Lt. Col. A. A. Hayatu (Kaduna, 56th Regular Course); Lt Col. Dangnan (Plateau, 56th Regular Course); Lt. Col. M. Almakura (Nasarawa, 56th Regular Course); Maj. A. J. Ibrahim (Gombe, 56th Regular Course), and Maj. M. M. Jiddah (Katsina, 56th Regular Course).
Others include Maj. M. A. Usman (Federal Capital Territory, 60th Regular Course); Maj. D. Yusuf (Gombe, 59th Regular Course); Maj. I. Dauda (Jigawa, DSSC 38); Capt. I. Bello (DSSC 43); Capt. A. A. Yusuf, Lt. S. S. Felix (DSSC); Lt. Commander D. B. Abdullahi (Nigerian Navy), and Squadron Leader S. B. Adamu (Nigerian Air Force).
The DHQ did not disclose when the court-martial proceedings would commence, but assured that due process would be followed throughout the trial.
