An elderly man, Bello Usman, his son, and another suspect have been arraigned before a Yola High Court in Adamawa State over the alleged killing of a woman, Dudu Usman.
The defendants, Bello Usman, his son, Naziru Bello, and Ahmed Chubado, are residents of Digno community in Daware District of Fufore Local Government Area.
They were arraigned on Tuesday before Justice Benjamin Manji on a three-count charge bordering on culpable homicide and mischief by fire.
The prosecution alleged that the trio beat the victim to death with sticks and set her house ablaze following accusations of witchcraft.

The deceased was said to be the sister of the first defendant, Bello Usman.
The prosecution added that the incident occurred on August 26, 2025, when the defendants allegedly stormed the residence of the deceased, accusing her of bewitching the second defendant, Naziru Bello.
During the attack, the victim was reportedly assaulted, while her house was also set on fire.
The court was further told that Dudu Usman was rushed to the Specialist Hospital for medical treatment but later died, as confirmed by the attending medical doctor.
All three defendants pleaded not guilty when the charges were read and interpreted to them.
Counsel to the state, Shuaibu Musa, applied for an adjournment to enable the prosecution to call its witnesses.
The application was not opposed by defence counsel, A. U. Sangare.
Justice Manji adjourned the case to February 16, 17, and 18, 2026, for the commencement of the trial.
