Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Thursday, January 15, 2026, laid a wreath at the cenotaph in Asaba to pay tribute to Nigeria’s fallen heroes during the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremonies.
The solemn event, held along Okpanam Road, commemorated officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces who sacrificed their lives in defence of the nation’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
Governor Oborevwori, joined by senior government officials and security chiefs, observed a minute of silence before placing the wreath on behalf of the state and its residents.

Representatives from the Armed Forces, paramilitary agencies, traditional institutions, veterans’ associations, and other stakeholders also participated in the symbolic laying of wreaths, accompanied by a 21-gun salute.
Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed annually on January 15, honours members of the Nigerian Armed Forces who lost their lives during the First and Second World Wars, the Nigerian Civil War, peacekeeping missions, and internal security operations across the country.
