The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has rolled out a key update to its online passport tracking system, making it easier for Nigerians to monitor their applications and avoid delays in collection.
Announced via the NIS official X account, the change addresses complaints from applicants whose passports were produced but left uncollected at offices or undelivered via courier. The new “PRODUCED (PASSPORT PRODUCED, READY FOR COLLECTION)” status now clearly signals when your passport is ready for pickup or awaiting delivery.
NIS explains that this helps users instantly grasp their application’s progress, whether it’s at the paid and vetted stage, sent to the passport office, received and ready for enrolment, undergoing NIN verification, in the production queue, produced and ready, or fully issued and collected. To check your status, simply visit the official tracker at https://track.immigration.gov.ng.
