Kevin Durant has surpassed the legendary Wilt Chamberlain on the NBA’s all-time scoring record, but despite his 30 points, the Houston Rockets fell short against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Durant, who is 37 years old, has accumulated 31,435 points throughout his career and now ranks seventh on the all-time list.
LeBron James, representing the Los Angeles Lakers, holds the top position with 42,601 points.
The Trail Blazers secured a victory with a score of 111-105 at Moda Center in Portland. Wilt Chamberlain, who passed away in 1999, remains the only player in NBA history to score 100 points in a single game and was a two-time champion with both the Philadelphia 76ers and the Lakers.
In 1962, he recorded an astounding average of 50.4 points per game and was the top scorer in the league when he retired in 1973. “You look at the statistics.
It’s hard to grasp how someone could score 50 points a game with 25 rebounds,” Durant remarked prior to Friday’s match.
“You aspire to compete and try to reach that level as much as possible. “It’s incredible to be among the top 10 with him, and having the chance to surpass him is truly special.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo blocked a shot from James and then snagged the ball from him on back-to-back plays in the final minute, helping the Milwaukee Bucks defeat the Lakers 105-101 in Los Angeles, marking their fifth win in seven matches.
Stephen Curry scored 27 points and achieved a season-best 10 assists as the Golden State Warriors won 137-103 at home against the Sacramento Kings.
The Oklahoma City Thunder bounced back from a 21-point deficit in the second half to secure a victory of 117-116 against the Memphis Grizzlies.
