Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, has opened up on why she no longer advises young Nigerians to audition for the popular reality TV show, offering a candid perspective on the realities of fame after the cameras go off.
Speaking from personal experience, Phyna said that while BBNaija can deliver instant visibility, the popularity enjoyed by housemates during the show is often short-lived. According to her, the excitement fades quickly once the season ends, with fans simply moving on to the next set of contestants.
“The charisma housemates have inside the house does not really carry on outside. The same fan base just shifts from one person to another. There are no new followers or fresh interest. It is always the same crowd,” she explained.
Phyna also expressed concern over what she described as a decline in the credibility of the show compared to earlier seasons. She noted that being a former BBNaija housemate no longer commands the respect it once did, adding that the brand value attached to the show has weakened over time.

She further warned against the widespread belief that participating in BBNaija automatically guarantees wealth, long-term relevance, and financial stability. According to her, many former contestants struggle quietly after the show, despite projecting a glamorous lifestyle on social media.
Phyna stressed that the reality of life after BBNaija often falls far short of the thrill, attention, and validation housemates experience while in the house, leaving some unprepared for the sudden drop in public interest.
Her comments have reignited conversations online about the true cost of reality TV fame and the pressures contestants face after the spotlight moves on, with many urging aspiring housemates to weigh their expectations carefully before auditioning.
